Ex-Wall Street Banker Accused of Insider Tips to Father Faces Trial

“I handed you this on a silver platter and you didn’t invest in this.”

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are set to face off with a former Wall Street investment banker in their first insider trading trial since a U.S. appeals court curtailed their ability to pursue such cases.

Why Hillary Clinton thinks making the Postal Service a bank too, is a good idea

The 55-page platform said that a Hillary Clinton administration would work to let the U.S. Postal Service offer “basic financial services,” including cashing checks and giving USPS more flexibility in choosing with services it provides, in an effort to revitalize the government service.

Harry Holzer, a professor of public policy at Georgetown University, said the reasoning behind this may be “it’s the one institution that kind of exists everywhere already.”

He added, however, the government would have to spend money to make this work.

Taking out a reverse mortgage ruined my life

When Frederick Feil took out a reverse mortgage on his Howard Beach home, he thought he was ensuring a comfortable future — not putting himself at risk of becoming homeless.

Feil, 67, who has a heart stent and undergoes dialysis treatments, is desperately fighting to prevent Finance of America Reverse from tossing him out of his home.

Feil took out a $353,000 reverse mortgage in December 2011, using all but a few thousand dollars to repay an earlier mortgage and cover hefty origination fees. Feil told The Post he fell behind on property taxes while in the hospital last year — and unexpectedly found himself in foreclosure last March when Finance of America Reverse called the entire balance, which has ballooned to $449,583.85 from interest and other charges, due.

Politico Admits ‘Mistake’ In Sending DNC An Article In Advance

I have seen this journalist on MSNBC many times. Now, Politico admits their mistake after getting caught. Big problems in the media from this scandal…

Huffington Post:

NEW YORK ― Politico acknowledged Sunday that it was a “mistake” for one of its top reporters to send the Democratic National Committee an advance copy of an article while emphasizing there were no substantive changes made to the piece prior to publication.

A May 2 article by Politico’s Ken Vogel and Isaac Arnsdorf ― “Clinton fundraising leaves little for state parties” ― has come under scrutiny since WikiLeaks publishedover 19,000 internal DNC emails on Friday.

Sen. Sanders to Address Democratic National Convention

All eyes will be on Sanders’ speech on Monday night at the convention. Sanders will definitely speak to the millions of young voters who supported Sanders’ candidancy as this is crucial for the young voters to stay involved in the Presidential race as well as the election of all city, local, and state candidates. Stay tuned!

BURLINGTON, Vt. – In an opening night address on Monday at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will make it clear that Hillary Clinton is by far superior to Donald Trump on every major issue from economics and health care to education and the environment.

Sanders will stress that the most progressive platform in Democratic Party history includes agreements he reached with Clinton to dramatically expand health care access and to make public colleges tuition-free for students from families with annual incomes up to $125,000 a year.

In his remarks, Sanders also plans to rip into Trump for siding with the Koch brothers and echoing fossil fuel industry claims that climate change is a hoax despite the virtually-unanimous scientific consensus that the warming planet is causing devastating harm.

Sanders also will send a message to the convention and to the 13 million voters who supported him that they have begun a political revolution to transform America and that the revolution – Our Revolution – continues. “Together,” he will say, “we continue the fight to create a government which represents all of us, and not just the 1 percent – a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice.”

Now, one DNC member apologize to Bernie Sanders:

DNC Chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz Stepping Aside After Convention

It’s about time. She should have been gone long time ago after the disasterous 2014 election but too little too late. Alot has happen so quickly today after the DNC leak: First, Wasserman-Schultz was not speaking at the convention and that she is only to gavel in and gavel out. Then, this morning, Sen. Sanders spoke on Meet the Press and ABC This Week that he wants Wasserman-Schultz to step down as DNC Chair. And now it is official: Wasserman-Schultz has stepped down as DNC Chair because of the distraction of DNC email leak scandal. However, Clinton says that Wasserman Schultz will serve as honorary chair of her campaign’s 50-state program to help elect Democrats around the country which I suspect that a deal was struck with Wasserman-Schultz, Clinton and Obama for her to step down as DNC Chair and give her a job with Clinton to avoid more distractions to the convention as well as the election.

PHILADELPHIA — Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been ousted as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee on the eve of the party’s convention, following a chairmanship marked by controversy that was pushed to the brink by revelations from leaked internal emails.

“Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention,” Wasserman Schultz said in a lengthy statement Sunday announcing her resignation. “I will open and close the Convention and I will address our delegates about the stakes involved in this election not only for Democrats, but for all Americans.”

“We have planned a great and unified Convention this week and I hope and expect that the DNC team that has worked so hard to get us to this point will have the strong support of all Democrats in making sure this is the best convention we have ever had,” she added.

DNC Caught Accepting Money from Union-Busting Companies in New Leak

Wasserman-Schultz needs to go and I mean go now. This scandal will not go away…

A new set of documents leaked by hacker Guccifer 2.0 allegedly shows the Democratic National Committee has no qualms about asking for donations from some of the most evil corporations in America — even the corporations whose values are directly in opposition to the Democratic Party’s stated goals.

The spreadsheet, which can be viewed in its entirety here, shows that DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and others within the DNC contacted several dozen corporate lobbyists to secure donations for the 2016 election cycle, soliciting four, five, and six-figure donations from their clients. The same spreadsheet shows the DNC asking for and receiving large sums of money from labor unions, environmental groups, and other advocates of progressive causes who may have likely given more thought to their donation had they known the DNC was asking their biggest opponents for money as well.

On a tab labeled “YesCommits,” meaning donors that said yes to the DNC’s requests for money, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) committed to a $45,000 donation for 2016. Just four slots below, Walmart’s PAC for Responsible Government is shown having donated $15,000 to the Democratic Party in 2015.

Walmart has always been openly anti-union and is known nationwide for forcing employees into captive-audience meetings, in which anti-union propaganda videos are shown to new hires. Nonetheless, at the same time the DNC asked Walmart for money, it also asked for and received a $45,000 donation from the United Food and Commercial Workers union, one of the unions leading and sponsoring protests and strikes at Walmart stores nationwide for the corporation’s opposition to raising wages and displays of open hostility toward unions.

In the “Active” tab, under which active requests that are awaiting a reply are filed, the DNC is seen asking the National Restaurant Association PAC for $45,000, and asking for an undisclosed amount from McDonald’s.

This is particularly ironic, as the National Restaurant Association is one of the leading opponents of a national minimum wage hike, and the SEIU has been leading and funding the Fight for $15 minimum wage campaign since 2012, with McDonald’s as one of its key targets. The Democratic Party has had a $15/hour minimum wage in its official platform since August 2015, when party activists passed a nonbinding resolution, which became official last weekend when the minimum wage hike was approved by the Platform Drafting Committee.

The DNC also received $15,000 from Verizon and $105,000 from Comcast despite also asking the Communications Workers of America (CWA) for funding. The union is currently actively fighting companies like Verizon and Comcast for better wages and working conditions for its workers.

The spreadsheet also shows the DNC has no problem soliciting organizations that have actively fought the Democratic Party’s key legislative fights over the years. While the Affordable Care Act is widely seen as President Barack Obama’s chief legislative victory throughout his two terms in office, the DNC nonetheless asked for a donation from the American Medical Association, which was one of the earliest opponents of healthcare reform, dating all the way back to 2009. The DNC also asked for money from health insurance giants Anthem, Cigna, and UnitedHealth group, despite all three of those companies donating to Republicans campaigning on a promise to repeal Obamacare.

Top DNC staffer apologizes for email on Sanders’ religion

Too little too late… It’s amazing that the Intercept asked the top DNC staffer Brad Marshall if he was attacking Sanders’ religion on the DNC leaked email. And he flat out said that the leaked email wasn’t referred to Sanders but a surrogate. Now, he apologized for the email. He simply got caught.

In a copy of a Facebook post provided by a source, Marshall said that he “deeply” regrets his “insensitive, emotional emails.” His Facebook page, upon searching, is private, and the statement is the only content viewable to the public.

The entire Facebook post: “I deeply regret that my insensitive, emotional emails would cause embarrassment to the DNC, the Chairwoman, and all of the staffers who worked hard to make the primary a fair and open process. The comments expressed do not reflect my beliefs nor do they reflect the beliefs of the DNC and its employees. I apologize to those I offended.”

Wasserman-Schultz won’t speak at Dem convention following Wikileaks fallout

The decision was blessed by Clinton and Sanders officials, this Democrat said.

(CNN)The head of the Democratic National Committee will not speak at the party’s convention next week, a decision reached by party officials Saturday after emails surfaced that raised questions about the committee’s impartiality during the Democratic primary.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whose stewardship of the DNC has been under fire through most of the presidential primary process, will not have a major speaking role in an effort “to keep the peace” in the party, a Democrat familiar with the decision said. The revelation comes following the release of nearly 20,000 emails
